Yalla Freestyle
By Christine Maila
I got a writing spell
Thinkin’ about Palestine and Israel
When the nation fell
The former to the latter
It don’t even matter
All this chit-chatter
But no change
Try to rearrange the pons
But it’s not a game
Not the same
Or is it the same with different names
Who’s to blame
Point a finger at the chain
Unleash the truth
Starting from the youth
So delicate, like a baby’s tooth
Loose
About to fall out
Instead of whispering, all I gotta do is be loud and shout
Use my voice as the choice deciding to let you know what it’s all about
Public awareness, so peace can be found
Creating a war with the wrong sound
We need a sound state
Peaceful, living in harmony to simultaneously elevate
We can’t be late
And no more debate
Too much talk, hoping for fate
To play the right role, but it’s almost too late
No more occupied territories and lost souls
Bridging the gap for us is our main goal
We being you and me, like shisha and coal
With the right intentions
People like Yalla, fulfilling their role
So let’s support them, and each pay our role
Living forward not back
There’s no point in pointing fingers- cuz that’s whack
We all lived it differently, now it’s time to act
Together we stand tall, no matter white or black
Then I tell you is stick to the grey
You can’t choose sides, it doesn’t work I say
Enough of the foreplay
It’s now time to inaugurate a new day
Equate this with a new stage, a new page…
So what are you waiting for?
Yalla!
No more rage.
